If you’re comparing ti3 and Chaser for chasing overdue invoices, the headline difference is what each tool does once an invoice is already late and the polite reminders have stopped working. Chaser is one of the most established credit-control platforms for small and mid-sized businesses, covering pre-due reminders, email, SMS, postal letters and automated debtor phone calls (Auto-call). ti3 is built around a 5-week structured recovery sequence that explicitly avoids phone calls, puts settlement and payment-plan options in front of the customer, and ends with an optional Final Demand Notice in your business name. Both work. They’re aimed at different stages of the same problem.
Disclosure: ti3 is our product. We’ve tried to be fair to Chaser, including where it’s the better fit, and every Chaser fact below comes from Chaser’s own pages as of September 2026.

Where Chaser wins
-
Auto-call (automated debtor phone calls). Chaser added Auto-call in January 2024. You write a script, and Chaser places the calls with a text-to-speech voice on the dates you choose. ti3 deliberately doesn’t do this, because an automated call escalates the relationship more than most small businesses want it to. But in some markets and trades the phone is simply the expected channel. If that’s you, Chaser wins.
-
Wider accounting integrations. Chaser started on Xero and now connects to Xero, QuickBooks, several Sage products, NetSuite, Dynamics 365 Business Central, Odoo and SAP. ti3’s native connection is QuickBooks, with Excel and CSV upload for everything else. If you run Xero or an ERP and don’t want to export files, Chaser sits more naturally inside your stack.
-
Pre-due and whole-lifecycle reminders. Chaser is built to run from the day an invoice is issued, with reminders before the due date as well as after. ti3 starts once the invoice is late. If most of your problem is customers who simply forget, Chaser covers more of the lifecycle.
Where ti3 wins
-
A structured recovery sequence, not just reminders. ti3 sends five reminders over five weeks, each firmer than the last, by email and SMS. Every reminder links to a self-serve page where your customer can pay in full, pay part, set up a payment plan within your rules, take a settlement discount you’ve offered, or propose a counter-offer you approve in one click. A formal Final Demand Notice can follow as a sixth step. The difference matters when an invoice is past 30 days and reminders alone have already failed.
-
A clear endgame. When the sequence ends without full payment, ti3’s Case Resolution records the next step for that account: hand it to a lawyer, hand it to a collection agency, or write it off. ti3 doesn’t take legal or collection action itself, but you’re never left with an invoice that has simply stopped being chased. Our guide on when to send an unpaid invoice to collections covers how to make that call.
-
Free recovery analysis before you pay. Send your aging report to /analysis/ and we’ll come back within 48 hours with an estimate of what’s recoverable and which accounts are likely write-offs. Chaser doesn’t have an equivalent decision step; it assumes you’ve already decided to chase.
-
US-focused law, US-focused customers. ti3’s Final Demand Notice language, state statute of limitations data and late-fee guidance are written for US small businesses. Chaser is excellent globally, but its US fit comes through the same integrations everyone has, not US-specific legal context.
-
No phone calls by design. This is a choice, not a missing feature. For owner-operators whose customers are also their pipeline, an automated call in the sequence risks the relationship more than it helps the recovery. If a call is right for one account, it’s yours to make personally. Our guide on chasing invoices without losing the client explains the reasoning.
Buyer-specific verdict
If you’re a US owner-operator (1-50 employees) on QuickBooks: ti3 if your overdue invoices need a structured recovery sequence. Chaser if you mostly need lifecycle reminders and want the option to add Auto-call.
If you’re on Xero or an ERP and want everything inside it: Chaser has the deeper integration. ti3 works from a CSV or Excel export.
If you’re an MSP recovering retainer non-payment: ti3, with the MSP-specific positioning. See our MSP collections guide. Both tools work, but ti3’s no-suspension approach maps more directly to keeping the client.
If you’re a UK trade business or contractor: Chaser. Auto-call and postal letters genuinely matter in that market, and Chaser’s UK fit is stronger.
Frequently asked questions
Can ti3 add Auto-call later?
Not on the current roadmap. It’s a deliberate design decision: we’d rather put settlement and payment-plan options in front of the customer by email and SMS than put an automated voice on their phone. Some businesses will disagree, and that’s fine. Chaser is the right tool if Auto-call is non-negotiable.
Does ti3 send reminders before an invoice is overdue?
No. ti3 starts once an invoice is past due. Pre-due reminders are usually handled by your invoicing tool (QuickBooks, Xero, FreshBooks), and Chaser handles both stages in one place. Our guide to automated invoice reminders covers what to set up before the due date.
Does ti3 do SMS?
Yes. Every weekly reminder in the sequence goes by email and SMS in your business name, with a link to the customer’s self-serve payment page. SMS reaches customers who have stopped opening email.
Which one is cheaper?
ti3 Self-Serve at $49/mo is cheaper than Chaser’s Compact plan at $259/mo. ti3 Managed, where our team runs the program for you, starts at $499/mo, which sits between Chaser’s Compact and Core plans. See ti3 pricing for what each tier includes. The cost comparison only matters once you’ve matched the right tool to the right job.
Can I use both?
Some teams do: Chaser for reminders in the first 30 days, ti3 for structured recovery on accounts that go past 30 days. The workflows overlap, though, so most teams settle on one.
What happens if my customer disputes the invoice?
In ti3 the customer can raise a dispute from their self-serve page, and it’s logged against the account. The sequence keeps running while you answer the dispute in writing. It only pauses if you agree the dispute is valid and pause it yourself. That stops a vague complaint from becoming an easy way to stall payment.
Does either tool take a percentage of what I recover?
No. Both charge a flat subscription. With ti3, recovered money goes straight to your own merchant account or digital wallet and ti3 never holds it. That’s the main cost difference from a contingency collection agency, which typically keeps a share of every dollar it recovers. Our breakdown of what collection agencies charge has the numbers.
What happens after week 5 if the invoice still isn’t paid?
You choose the next step in Case Resolution: send the Final Demand Notice if you haven’t already, hand the account to a lawyer or a collection agency, or write it off. ti3 records the decision and the handoff, but it doesn’t practise law or collect on your behalf. If write-off is on the table, read when to write off an unpaid invoice first.
Where to go next
If you have overdue invoices right now and you’re not sure which tool fits, send them through ti3’s free analysis. It’s free even if you end up choosing Chaser. The output tells you which accounts are recoverable, which are write-off candidates, and which would benefit from the kind of structured sequence ti3 runs.
Reading the small-business AR recovery complete guide before you decide is the best 10-minute prep. It explains how collectability drops with age and which tool fits which stage.
